This little mosaic brooch was missing its hinge, so I rebuilt one from antique tube hinge parts.
Mosaics like this have been tourist items for over a century and are still made today. Not to be confused with micro mosaics which use tiny tesserae that give the appearance of a painting, mosaics are made with larger pieces, still inlaid with great care into striking patterns.
